BOURBON BAY (c, 2, Bayern–Savvy Sassy, by Street Sense) missed by just a neck in his career bow at this venue Nov. 11 and was hammered down to 3-5 favoritism to get the job done this time around. Forced to steady at the start, the bay caboosed the field through the initial stages, but quickly got his hooves beneath him and made his way into mid-pack as the first quarter went up in :22.70. Unleashing a powerful five-wide rally in the lane, Bourbon Bay swept to the front in the final sixteenth and cruised clear to graduate by 2 1/4 lengths, becoming the 20th winner for his freshman sire (by Offlee Wild).

First Deputy (Awesome Again) was the runner-up. The winner is the first foal out of Savvy Sassy, who hassince produced a yearling filly by Malibu Moon. She did not have a foal in 2019, but was bred back to Flatter this spring.
