Aiken Training Track

BUILDINGS AND STALLS

There are 4 barns with 120 stalls total. Stall sizes range from 10×10 to 12×12 and 12×15. There is a newly constructed courtyard barn. You’ll find a tack repair shop on premises and numerous local tack and feed stores.

TRACK SURFACE

The track is a one-mile red-clay base, sandy loam cushioned surface with excellent drainage. Training surfaces consist of 1-mile main track (100′ wide) and a 5/8-mile training track (80′ wide).

DIRT ROADS

There are myriad dirt roads and grassy fields ideal for hacking. Your horses’ hooves never have to touch concrete or gravel. We are located in close proximity to the famous Hitchcock Woods!

OPERATIONS

Training Hours are from 7 am to 11 am with one break. There is a United Puett six-stall starting gate. The starting gate is available from 7 am to 9:30 am.

TRACK KITCHEN

The historic Aiken Track Kitchen is open through the winter season from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The best homemade grits in town go along with delicious breakfast. Owners, trainers, exercise riders and grooms gather every morning.

COT CAMPBELL CLOCKERS’ STAND

The Cot Campbell Clockers’ Stand at the Aiken Training Track is the perfect place to watch your horses work out in the morning. Recently renovated, it is named for legendary Aiken trainer and National Racing Hall of Fame Pillars of the Turf member W. Cothran Campbell.
