OFFTHEROADAGAIN takes Mahoning Valley allowance by 8

Rebekah Hammond/Hector Garza got OFFTHEROADAGAIN (Bal a Bali (BRZ)) started at Aiken and she continued on to trainer Cirilo Gorostieta. Racing 6 furlongs at Mahoning Valley Race Course, she won easily by 8 lengths in allowance company. The filly is owned by  Westbrook Stables, LLC and was bred by Calumet Farm.

Marcus & Crystal Ryan (Mason Springs) get 3 winners at Aqueduct in recent weeks

Marcus & Crystal Ryan (Mason Springs) use the Aiken Training track to breeze their prospects. In the last weeks, AWARD WANTED ( Macho Uno) rolled to an easy win in allowance company at Laurel – winning in hand by over 6 lengths. She is trained by John J. Robb for owner No Guts No Glory Farm and Upton, Erica.
Teaming with Legacy they also found the winners circle with MIA BEA STAR (Race Day) at Aqueduct and twice with REGGAE MUSIC MAN (Maclean’s Music) – both in allowance company all at Aqueduct.

REGGAE MUSIC MAN strong allowance winner at Aqueduct

REGGAE MUSIC MAN (Maclean’s Music) made it two wins in a row in allowance company at Aqueduct. Racing 6 furlongs, he overcame a wide trip from start to finish to win by a length. He prepped in Aiken.  The 4-year-old is a homebred for Ginellen Racing and is trained by  Patrick L. Reynolds

MILTON THE MONSTER 3rd in the Stymie S.

MILTON THE MONSTER (Jack Milton) followed his recent allowance win with a 3rd in the Stymie S. going a mile at Aqueduct.  Last out je won by 13 lengths in allowance company at PARX.  He was started by Cary and then sold at Fasig Tipton Timonium. MILTON THE MONSTER is owned by Robert Brittingham, James Wasserson, and Louis Bisso, Jr., and trained by John C. Servis.

STILL ALIVE wins her 5th race and is close to $150,000 in earnings

STILL ALIVE by Midshipman dueled to a  2 3/4 length win at PARX despite having to steady at the 3/8ths marker.  The 5-year-old mare was trained in Aiken by Cary Frommer and then sold to her trainer Nicholas Cammarano, Jr. as a 2-year-old in training at Timonium. It is interesting to note that her sire Midshipman, a champion 2-year-old, also trained in Aiken with Darley.  He is also entered into the  Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame as 2008 Horse of the Year.

 

BOURBON BAY wins at Aqueduct

BOURBON BAY (Bayern) was trained at the Aiken Training Track by Cary Frommer.  Getting his 5 year old campaign off to a good start, he won a mile race at Aqueduct quite easily by 3 3/4 lengths. He was claimed out of his race and we wish his new connections the best of racing luck.

Madone to be inducted as 2021 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year

Madone named the 2021 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year

Madone, this year’s winner of the Grade 2 San Clemente Stakes and the Grade 3 Senorita Stakes, has been named the 2021 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year by the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame & Museum. An exhibit about Madone’s 2021 racing season will be on display beginning April 1, 2022

Glendalough LLC bred Madone, a foal of 2018, in Kentucky. The dark brown daughter is by Vancouver (AUS) and Solerina by Indian Love Call. Kaleem Shah, Inc. purchased the filly for $125,000 from the Ocala Breeders’ Sales
2-Year-Olds in Training Sale last March.

She trained at the historic Aiken Training Track under the tutelage of Cary Frommer and currently trained by Simon Callaghan. Madone raced 10 times in 2021 with five wins and $ 370,300 in earnings.

The Aiken Trained Horse of the Year award was created in 2002 to honor local Thoroughbreds who have had an excellent racing season by winning at least one graded stakes race. Past winners are Congaree (2002), Wando (2003), Limehouse (2005), Bob and John (2006), Country Star (2007), Midshipman (2008), Quality Road (2009 & 2010), It’s Tricky (2011), Alpha (2012) Palace Malice (2013 & 2014), Curalina (2015 & 2016), Dickinson (2017), Still Having Fun (2018) and Concrete Rose (2019).
